Thai government targets “Smart Thailand 2020” combined “National ICT” & “National Broadband” policies

Thailand’s government has launched a “Thailand Country Strategy” policy to steer the country forward, increase its competency and competitiveness, reduce the inequity and support the environmentally-friendly growth. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has combined the government’s policy and strategy of the “SMART THAILAND 2020” using the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to create a better Thai future, and aligned the National Broadband Policy and the ICT Policy for 2011-2020 or “ICT 2020”.

MICT and SIPA hold the SMART THAILAND 2020 project under the concept ICT Shift the Future of Thailand, by integrating the “SMART THAILAND 2020” policy which are Smart Network (Developing the basic projects of ICT), Smart Government (Applying ICT to manage and facilitate every section), Smart  Business (Developing the ICT industry to compete internationally) and Smart People (Building the foundation of life and economy with ICT).

Mar. 7, 2014 – BANGKOK, Thailand (Source) — The Thailand government has launched the “Thailand Country Strategy” policy to steer the country forward, increase its competency and competitiveness, reduce the inequity and support the environmentally-friendly growth. The objective of the plan is to create a stable and balanced future of the country, the better quality of life for people, as well as the sustainable development of the economy, so that Thailand would overcome the middle-income trap. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has therefore carried out the government’s policy and strategy of the “SMART THAILAND 2020” using the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) significantly to create Thailand’s better future which is aligned with the National Broadband Policy and the ICT Policy for 2011-2020 or “ICT 2020”.

The visions and missions of MICT are to empower and increase the efficiency of the government sector as a whole and facilitate the private sector to increase the competitiveness limitlessly and improve the quality of life of people instantly. MICT is now ready to lead the country to undergo the rapid development by utilizing the ICT ultimately in all aspects of the development. The “ICT Shift the Future of Thailand” strategy will bring a better future to Thailand within 2020 in 6 aspects: Quality of life, Education, Business and Industry, Energy and Environment, Thai Entrepreneurship and Creative Industry, by integrating the “SMART THAILAND 2020” policy which are Smart Network (Developing the basic projects of ICT), Smart Government (Applying ICT to manage and facilitate every section), Smart  Business (Developing the ICT industry to compete internationally) and Smart People (Building the foundation of life and economy with ICT).

Last year 2013, Thailand by the MICT co-hold the “ITU Telecom World 2013” which is the international ICT event, the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) organized the “SMART THAILAND 2020” exhibition under the concept “ICT Shift the Future of Thailand” to support the development of the country’s software industry as well as to promote Thailand’s readiness to recover itself with ICT.
