Statistics say 40.8% of Thai SMEs see business prospects as expected & 23.4% below expectations

Latest statistics of Thai SMEs say 40.8% see business prospect as expected; 10.1% see business as better than expected; 23.4 see business as worse than expected, and 14% see business as no growth. The Thai government had recently increased the minimum wage to 300 baht a day, with most analyst saying the wage increase had hit Thai SMEs the hardest. The Thai SMEs as a group, thus, asked the government to help set up a fund, to help SMEs with cheap loan to help them adjust. Other Thai SMEs grouping had asked for an “Emergency Fund” to help them trouble shoot a host of problems. The government have also lowered the tax rate for companies, but Thai SMEs says the lower tax, would not be enough to off-set the higher wage. (Source: SME Thailand)
